Can't Create an Extension
All you need to do is add a W2 (even if they don't have income) to the return, then in box 2 just put $1 and then you can create an e-file extension. Some reason there was a mixup at the EFC with a new 1040 Schema update and this is required to be done if there is no income on the return.
